Accessibility assessment

Object description

The museum is poorly accessible. A movable ramp on a narrow sidewalk in front of the entrance can be used to access the ground floor. The sidewalk does not have a set-off in front of the entrance. There is a reception desk on the ground floor along with part of the exhibition area. The upper floor is only accessible via stairs on the inside. Wheelchair users can access it via a separate entrance at the back of the building. A temporary ramp installed at the side entrance can be dangerous due to the lack of side edges. The upper floor features the rest of the collection and non-accessible sanitary facilities. The interior of the building is relatively poorly lit.

Adaptations

  1. People with mobility impairments:
  2. There is an accessible parking spot near the entrance,
  3. A temporary ramp has been installed for wheelchair users at the main entrance,
  4. The side entrance leading to the upper floor has been adapted for wheelchair users with a ramp,
  5. The height of the reception desk is adapted to wheelchair users.
  6. People with visual impairments:
  7. The reception desk is located in the immediate vicinity of the entrance.
  8. People with hearing impairments:
  9. There are no adaptations.

  5. Access to the side entrance is only possible via an upward sloping road,
  6. The slope of the ramp at the side entrance is too steep and is not adequately secured,
  7. The changes of level in the interior of the building (high steps) are not adequately addressed,
  8. The building does not have a lift,
  9. The building does not have accessible sanitary facilities.
  10. People with visual impairments:
  11. There are abrupt transitions from light to dark spaces in the building,
  12. The edges of stairs do not have contrasting visual markings,
  13. The edges of the changes of level do not have contrasting visual markings,
  14. None of the exhibited items enable tactile exploration of the exhibited material.
  15. People with hearing impairments:
