Accessibility assessment

Object description

The open-air museum is poorly accessible. The accessible parking spots are quite far from the entrance to the open-air museum. The walking path in the open-air museum is not paved (gravel or dirt) and ascends on several sections. The walking path leads to the lookout point along different cultural heritage buildings (Šmit House, winemaker’s house, apiary, smithy, outbuilding, haystack, etc.), which have stairs, high thresholds at the doors that prevent access to wheelchair users. The smaller building for information, ticket purchases and shops and sanitary facilities in the remote museum house are not accessible to people with mobility impairments. The museum has no adaptations for people with sensory impairments.

Adaptations

  1. People with mobility impairments:
  2. The height of the reception desk in the small information space is adapted to wheelchair users, but the narrow doors and change of level at the entrance make it inaccessible.
  3. People with visual impairments:
  4. The signboard at the entrance to the open-air museum is suitable.
  5. People with hearing impairments:
  6. The reception desk is adequately lit and enables lip-reading and interpreting facial expressions,
  7. The reception desk glazing is non-reflective or non-glaring.

Deficiencies

  1. People with mobility impairments:
  2. There is an accessible parking spot, but it is far away,
  3. There is a slope on the access path that is slippery due to the surface (sandy path),
  4. The entrance to the information building is not accessible due to the high threshold and narrow doors,
  5. The walking path in the open-air museum is not paved, but gravel or grass (coarse gravel) and ascends steeply in areas,
  6. The entrances to most of the cultural heritage buildings have changes of level that are not suitably addressed,
  7. The open-air museum does not have accessible sanitary facilities (the sanitary facilities are located in the remote museum building, but access is difficult due to the steep hill and stairs).
  8. People with visual impairments:
  9. The window of the reception desk in the information space does not have contrasting visual markings,
  10. The edges of stairs and changes of level in the buildings and the access path do not have contrasting visual markings,
  11. There are no tactile floor markings or adaptations.
  12. People with hearing impairments:
  13. The museum is not equipped with an induction loop.
