The Maribor National Hall

Object description

Narodni dom is inaccessible for people with mobility impairments and partially accessible for people with other impairments. Access is possible through the main entrance, which features a ramp and step, or the side entrance at the back of the building. The building has three floors and does not feature a lift (the lift is planned to be installed next year), so the hall is not accessible for wheelchair users. The great hall with moveable seating is on the first floor, while the hall balconies are on the second floor. There are partly accessible sanitary facilities on the ground floor, but the doors are too narrow (77 cm). The ticket counter is located in the immediate vicinity of the side entrance, not the main entrance. The hall is not equipped with an induction loop.

Deficiencies

2. The building main entrance is not accessible (due to the steep ramp and stairs),
3. The gradient of the ramp is not suitable and it is not adequately secured,
4. The height of the ticket counter is not adapted to wheelchair users,
5. The changes of level in the interior of the building are not adequately addressed,
6. The building does not have a lift.

9. The ticket counter is not located in the immediate vicinity of the entrance, but near the side entrance,
10. The path to the remote reception desk is not marked with tactile floor markings.

12. The hall and ticket counter are not equipped with an induction loop,
13. The ticket counter is not adequately lit and does not enable lip-reading and interpreting facial expressions (it is taped over),
14. Subtitles are not provided at events.
