Object description

The library is easily accessible. There is enough room to manoeuvre in the library and the height of the library counters is adapted to wheelchair users. There are accessible toilet rooms on the ground floor. Aside from the library and study rooms, the first floor of the library features a multipurpose hall with moveable seating. Since the building does not have a lift, access to the first floor for wheelchair users is enabled with a lifting platform on the building’s side stairwell. The building is adequately lit.

Adaptations

  2. There is an accessible parking spot near the entrance,
  3. The main entrance to the building is accessible,
  4. The entrance has an automatic (sliding) door,
  5. There is a lifting platform in the building for access to the first floor,
  6. The height of the reception desk is adapted to wheelchair users,
  7. There is sufficient room to manoeuvre indoors,
  8. There are accessible toilet rooms on the ground floor,
  9. The layout of the bookshelves enables wheelchair access,
  10. The hall has moveable seating.
  11. People with visual impairments:
  12. The entrance to the building is easily recognizable,
  13. The building features suitable information signage,
  14. The reception desk is located in the immediate vicinity of the entrance,

  3. The stairs with the lifting platform for access to the first floor are far away from the entrance and are not easily detectable in the space,
  4. The door to access the lifting platform are very heavy.
  5. People with visual impairments:
  6. The glazed glass doors do not have contrasting visual markings,
  7. The window of the reception desk does not have contrasting visual markings,
  8. The edges of stairs do not have contrasting visual markings.
  9. People with hearing impairments:
  10. The reception desk is positioned with windows behind it,
  11. The hall and the library counter are not equipped with an induction loop.
