Accessibility assessment

Object description

TIC Ljubljana is partially accessible. There is a short, steep ramp without a sufficiently large landing at the front doors. The reception area has an information counter and a small shop. The height of the information counter is not adapted to wheelchair users and is not equipped with an induction loop. The space is adequately lit.

Wheelchair users can rent electric wheelchair chargers in the TIC.

Adaptations

  1. People with mobility impairments:
  2. The main entrance to the building is accessible (the steep ramp with no landing constitutes an obstacle for wheelchair users),
  3. There is sufficient room to manoeuvre indoors.
  4. People with visual impairments:
  5. The entrance to the building is easily recognizable,
  6. The signboard at the main entrance is suitable,
  7. The glass doors have contrasting visual markings,
  8. The reception desk is located in the immediate vicinity of the entrance,
  9. There are no abrupt transitions from light to dark spaces in the building,
  10. The signage and lettering in the building have contrasting visual markings and are readable.
  11. People with hearing impairments:
  12. The reception desk is adequately lit and enables lip-reading and interpreting facial expressions,
  13. The reception desk glazing is non-reflective or non-glaring.

Deficiencies

  1. People with mobility impairments:
  2. There are no accessible parking spots (TIC is located in the pedestrian zone),
  3. The ramp in front of the entrance is not adequately addressed and does not enable independent use,
  4. The height of the reception desk is not adapted to wheelchair users.
  5. People with visual impairments:
  6. The window of the reception desk does not have contrasting visual markings,
  7. The signage and lettering in the building are not placed at suitable heights,
  8. The edge of the ramp does not have contrasting visual markings,
  9. The edge of the shop counter constitutes a (height) obstacle, as it is not properly designated.
  10. People with hearing impairments:
  11. The reception desk is not equipped with an induction loop.
